Abstract
The time-domain characteristic of an acoustic signal produced by underwater discharges is clarified under the conditions of no reverberation and reverberation and the time-frequency analysis is conducted through HHT. Furthermore, the application of the plasma acoustic source to the underwater interference is discussed. Results show that a single signal generated from plasma acoustic sources has the feature of high amplitude, short pulse width, and broad frequency band. Furthermore, the amplitude and the pulse duration of the acoustic signal could be enhanced in the case of reverberation, which is beneficial to acoustic interference. In application, enough pulse width is easily obtained by the acoustic pulse trains generated from continuous underwater discharges. Therefore, the plasma acoustic source could be used as an effective underwater interference source.
