Abstract
With an increasing demand of spectrum resources, multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) has been widely used in various communication architectures. As the frequency band goes up, line-of-sight (LoS) channel becomes the most common scenario because of the obvious straight beam path. However, the undesirable channel capacity turns into a bottleneck in LoS-MIMO system. Due to the weak correlation of vortex waves, the negative effect of low system capacity can be improved to some extent via a special OAM antenna. Compared with traditional MIMO, our simulation results indicate that channel capacities are increased by about 60-180 percent under OAM based LoS-MIMO system. Further, the wireless systems are expected to acquire a higher capacity gain through antennas number addition, spacing expansion, multi-mode gathered, etc.
