Abstract
After the description of a graph pyramid used for image processing -- a stochastic pyramid -- a new approach to the translation of an image into a graph is presented. It is shown that the use of a minimal spanning tree in this process improves the results of the segmentation. Some experimental results are presented on synthetic image and on a MRI data of the heart. They are obtained with the stochastic pyramids, with the standard transformation of the image, and with the minimal spanning tree. Finally, a filtering pyramidal algorithm is proposed, using the properties of the minimal spanning tree.
