Abstract
In composites reinforced with Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wires, SMA wires play a role of distributed actuators to achieve athptive functions while in seivice. This paper presents the theoretical study on the thermo-mechanical characteristics of composites reinforced with SMA wires, based on the one-dimensional constitutive relation of SMA. Experimental results derived from tension, free recovery and restrained recovery of composites reinforced with SMA wires are presented and compared th the simulated results.
