Abstract
A new genetic algorithm for the restoration of images degraded due to blur and random noise is put forward in this paper. In comparison with other methods, the present method not only gives new objective function terms in the fitness, but also introduces some kinds of effective genetic operation methods. Particularly, the notion of pixel correlation is introduced to predict the changing direction of gray-scale values. Furthermore, the number of generations in the evolution process can be reduced; the fitness in the restored image and subjective visual effect of the image may also be improved. Finally the effectiveness of the present method is verified by computer simulation.
