Abstract
One potential limitation of computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) studies is that a computerized method may be trained and tested on a database comprised of a limited number of cases. Thus, the performance of the CAD method may depend on the subtlety of the lesions (i.e., the case mix) in the database. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of case-mix on feature selection and the performance of a computerized classification method trained on a limited database.
