Abstract
Method for design silica GeO2-doped graded-index multimode optical fibers 50/125 with low differential mode delay (DMD) is introduced. It is based on synthesis of special refractive index profile, providing the equalization of guided mode group velocities. Here the objective function is represented as a sum of squares of deviations between points of current iteration group velocity map, been calculated over principal mode numbers, and certain reference group velocity value. The number of guided modes, taken into account, depends on type of laser source and launch conditions. Results of proposed method approbation for synthesis of multimode optical fiber with low DMD under both VCSEL and singlemode Fabry-Perot laser excitation with central and offset launch conditions are represented.
