Abstract
The article is devoted to development of a quantitation parameters of the pulse distortion method occurring under the influence of birefringent optical fibers effect. It is analyzed the existing methods of an assessment of those distortions used in communication networks. Developed scheme of measurements allow determining the effective shift and pulse widening for each of the meanings of wave length incoming radiation. This method can be used for the analysis of polarization mode dispersion in wavelength-division networks.
