Abstract
How slow is slow crack growth? We have seen that cracks grow to critical with time in the presence of moisture, where catastrophic failure will occur. This is calculated by integration of equations in the simplest case of no residual stress [between the limits of initial and final (critical) flaw depth] to yield the time to failure.
