Abstract
Optical isodynes, produced by scattered laser light, constitute experimental basis of two-dimensional and three-dimensional isodyne stress analysis. Paper presents theoretical basis of optical isodynes, discusses major components of the theoretical model and presents examples of efficiency of the nondestructive isodyne stress analysis in determination of the actual three-dimensional stress states in composite structures, contact problems, and fracture mechanics. Stress is put on theoretical admissibility of major components of the involved mathematical models which are taken as analytical foundation of the experimental and analytical procedures of stress analysis. Reliability of isodyne stress analysis is compared with reliability of other methods of stress analysis.
