Abstract
A new method of optical switch design is proposed, which is used in optical fiber biological protein chips. Based on the white-light interferometry and the nanometer change of air layer between "Y" type optical fiber and optical fiber bioprobe, main error of the optical switch is theoretically studied and verified by experiments. Experiment results showed that the main error of optical switch is determined by the tilt angle between two couple optical fibers. The method for reducing the test error is studied. When the diameter of optical fiber is 600um and the couple error in axes is less than 10μm, the additional testing error of optical fiber biological protein chips is less than 0.1ng/ml
