Abstract
Integrated widely tunable lasers are commonly used in communications. However, applications in, e.g., Lidar, fiber sensing or gas spectroscopy, have different requirements, such as continuous sweeping or low-noise operation. In this paper, I will discuss novel ideas for continuous sweeping, potentially eliminating mode-hopping, and options for low-frequency-noise operation.
