Laerte dos Santos received his D.Sc. degree in Power Systems and his M.Sc. degree in Energy engineering from Itajubá Federal University, Itajubá, Brazil, .
He has been with Eletrobras Furnas Electric Co. since 1982 and has been working with infrared thermography since 1996.
He is a NDT ASNT Level III infrared thermographer and a NDT ABENDI Level III infrared thermographer.
He is the coordinator of the Brazilian Committee of thermography, which is responsible for thermography standards in Brazil and member of the Working Group responsible for the Brazilian certification of thermography.
