In this paper, a long wave infrared continuous zoom optical system is designed based on 640×512 element cooled detector. By using fluoride crystal and chalcogenide glass to design the passive athermalized optical system, the operating temperature range of the optical system can meet the requirements of -40~60℃.The spectral wave band of the system is 7.7μm~9.5μm with F# is 3. It can realize 30mm ~150mm continuous zoom. When considering athermalization of infrared optical system, the fluoride crystal glass, the chalcogenide glass and the other infrared materials are matched reasonably. And three athermalized schemes are designed in this paper. By comparing the three design schemes, it can be concluded that the addition of fluoride material to the long wave continuous zoom system is beneficial to the realization of passive athermalized design.
