Profile Summary

Tomohiro Akiyama received M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Yokohama National University, Yokohama, Japan, in 1991 and 2009, respectively.
In 1991, he joined the Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Kamakura, Japan, where he was engaged in research on optical imaging systems and remote sensing. From 1997 to 2000, he was with ATR Adaptive Communications Research Laboratories, Kyoto, Japan, where he was engaged in research on microwave photonics for wireless communications. In 2001, he returned to the Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Kamakura, Japan, where he has been engaged in research on optically controlled array antenna and radio-over-fiber technologies.
From 2015 to 2019, he was with Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), in Tokyo, Japan, where he was engaged in research on airborne coherent doppler lidar. In 2019, he returned to the Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Kamakura, Japan, where he has been engaged in research on free space optical communication and microwave photonics technologies.
He is currently a Head Researcher with the Communication Systems Center, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation.
