Waleed received a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Guelph (Ontario, Canada) with a dual focus on advanced mechatronics and sustainable energy systems. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence at McMaster University. Mr. Hilal’s research interests include machine learning techniques for anomaly detection and fault detection, generative adversarial networks, and cognitive dynamic systems. He is currently a graduate research assistant in the Intelligent and Cognitive Engineering (ICE) Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at McMaster University. Mr. Hilal is also involved in various research projects with industrial partners such as Adastra Corporation (Toronto, Ontario) where he delivers data solutions for industrial applications. He is also involved with the Ontario Health Data Platform where he leads the data analytics for a research team to explore trends and discover insights relating to infections, hospitalizations, and vaccinations for the Province of Ontario.
