Nowadays, diabetes has become a very widespread disease, and research on blood glucose has become one of the important topics. Researchers have developed a variety of glucose biosensors that can detect blood glucose levels, but there are still some problems, such as environmental limitations, reaction rate limitations and price limitations. Therefore, this paper reviews a large amount of literature and data, introduces the mechanisms of different glucose biosensors, summarizes past and present developments in glucose biosensors, and analyzes the advantages and limitations of different types of glucose biosensors. Finally, through analysis and comparison, the paper concludes that there is still much room for the development of glucose biosensors and in the future, there will likely be glucose biosensors that are more miniaturized, more efficient and allow for wireless use. Therefore, in the future, glucose biosensors will likely overcome the various problems that exist at present, become more convenient, more sensitive and cheaper, and will be used in more applications by more people.
