Andrés Márquez completed his physics degree at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Spain, in 1996, and received his MSc and PhD degrees in physics in the Department of Physics, Group of Optics, Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, in 1997 and 2001, respectively. In 2000 he joined the Group of Holographic Materials in the Universidad de Alicante, where he is Professor of applied physics. His research interests include holographic recording materials, liquid crystal spatial light modulators, optical image processing and diffractive optics.

Challenges and impact of the grating vector direction in high-frequency LC-SLM binary phase gratings
The set-up has been experimentally implemented and some experimental concerns are discussed. The suitability of the system is provided by generating different experimental spatial distributions of polarization. In this regard, well-known polarization distributions, as axial, azimuthal or spiral linear polarization patterns are here provided. Based on the excellent results obtained, the suitability of the system to generate different spatially variant distributions of polarization is validated.
