Profile Summary

Feidhlim T. O’Neill was born in Dublin, Ireland. He received his Bachelors degree (H1) in Applied Science (Phys/Chem) from Trinity College, University of Dublin in 1997. He was awarded his Doctorate by University College Dublin in 2002 for research carried out under the supervision of Prof. John T. Sheridan (Holographic and Refractive Optical Element Arrays).
He was awarded an IRCSET Embark Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2003 (Fabrication of microlens arrays). This was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre for Bio-analytical Sciences, Dublin City University in 2006 under the leadership of Prof. Brian MacCraith (Fluorescence based polymer biosensors for biopharmaceutical applications).
In 2009 he took up a position as a postdoctoral fellow at University College Dublin and was employed as the Research Manager of the Surface Engineering Research Group.
In 2012 he was offered the opportunity to join IPNav as a senior patent analyst. In this role he has worked with world leading multinational companies on a diverse range of projects.
His core technical expertise is in the area of optics/photonics with an emphasis on imaging technology, materials and 3D data storage. Over his career he has augmented this core expertise with a broad technical skill set that encompasses Engineering, Optics, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Medical Technology and Material Science. He has presented lectures in Bio-photonics and Bio-Physics at Dublin City University (2007-2009). He is the author of 35 peer-reviewed publications and 58 conference papers (h-index: 16, source: Web of Science).
