Profile Summary

The focus my research is the application of Integrated Optics to Lab-on-a-Chip devices. Integrated optics refers to micrometer-scale optical systems made of glass and/or polymers. Lab-on-a-chip devices are small and portable medical, chemical and environmental instruments. Integrated optics is seen as a key enabler for these devices since bulky and expensive microscopes and high-voltage photomultipliers can be eliminated.
