M. Imran Cheema obtained his Ph.D. and MS in Electrical Engineering from McGill University, Canada, in 2014 and the University of Colorado at Boulder, USA, in 2007, respectively. He earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from UET Lahore, Pakistan, in 2002. Currently, Imran is an associate professor in the Electrical Engineering department at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Pakistan. His prior appointments include a photonics engineer at Oerlikon Optics Inc., USA, and a postdoctoral researcher at McGill University, Canada. In recognition of his teaching abilities, he was honored with the Vice Chancellor teaching excellence award in 2022. Furthermore, he was a finalist for the best national teacher award in the engineering and science category in 2023. His research focuses on designing and developing optical sensors for various applications, including point-of-care, agriculture, and food security.
