Dr. Sourvanos embarked on his journey in dentistry at the University of Southern California (USC), where he completed both his undergraduate and doctoral studies. At USC, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and a Doctor of Dental Surgery, laying a solid foundation for his specialized career in periodontics. He furthered his academic pursuits at the University of Pennsylvania, receiving a Doctor of Science in Dentistry, a Specialty Certificate in Periodontics, and a Certificate in Translational Research-Regulatory Sciences.
During his time at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Sourvanos engaged in two Postdoctoral Fellowships funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH). His first fellowship allowed exploration into the realm of translational research with the Perelman School of Medicine Institute for Translational Medicine and Applied Therapeutics (ITMAT). The second focused on niche multidisciplinary training with a cohort in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics through the Schools of Dental Medicine and Engineering at the Center for Innovation and Precision Dentistry (CiPD).
